About this painting . . .
To sketch this scene, I stood in the cold Colorado River of the Grand Canyon. When I returned home, I turned that dramatic setting into a painting. To improve a design or have greater impact, I often use colors I like and alter the shapes somewhat, as I did in this painting. I used watercolors on acrylic gesso to get more texture in Grand Canyon Drama.
