About this painting . . .
While in Kenya, we stayed at a place that had Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. In the mornings, a large herd of elephants trouped in front of our dwelling on their way to a large watering hole. In this painting, I wanted to convey the mood I felt on the Maasi Mari, where the elephants roamed and loomed large in my mind. I created this painting with palette knives and acrylic paint on canvas. Tembo is the swahili word for elephant.
