About this painting . . .
While traveling in the Ukraine recently, our tour group came upon a man on a bench singing and playing an unusual instrument, the bandura. The plucked instrument had a large box like the lute and zither. The man playing this elegant, Ukrainian instrument had a wild mane but sonorous voice. I took many photos of him, then completed the watercolor portrait back in my room.
