About this painting . . .
I watched as large basket containers of bananas, exotic fruit, sweet corn, eggs, carrots, taro, lettuce, cabbage, and beans were balanced on heads and delivered to a market teeming with life. This is the Bali Market in Denpasar, Bali's capital, where the locals sold their croops and bought their daily fare of food. I tried to stand to one side as I sketched the rapidly changing scene, but was almost swept by all the activity. February 11, 2007.
