About this painting . . .
Hindu temples can be found on the tip of a steep cliff, in rice fields and homes, mixed with Buddhist shrines, and, in this image, about one hundred feet from shore. When the tide is out, people can walk to this temple or Pura. This Island Temple is Pura Tanah Lot. Fortunately, before the water had swept me off a rock, I saw that I needed to get to higher ground to do my sketching. February 10, 2007.
