About this painting . . .
As I cruised down the Danube in October of 2005, the colors in the trees and vineyards were spectacular. Then I spied Danube Castle high on a promontory.. As I sketched, I wondered if soldiers had ever tried to climb the cliffs. It looked like a suicidal effort. October 28, 2005
