About this painting . . .
When I took the trip across the bay to the Arizona Memorial on Oahu island, I was struck by the solemnity of the shrine. I began to imagine the horror of the day the ship was set on fire and began to sink. In my painting, I tried to create some of the chaos that brought about the reason for the memorial.
